These days from her base in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she is clinically licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Maryland and DC. Sequoyah is a passionate advocate for mental health in general but most importantly in her community, highlighting the importance of black therapists and cultural competency in treatment. With over a decade of experience, she has witnessed firsthand the challenges that stigma, shame, financial limitations, and cultural biases pose to people seeking help. She believes education and awareness are the key to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. It’s a wonderful story. Enjoy.
