Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Jazz Saxophonist, Composer & Bandleader Andrew Rathbun..  He grew up in Toronto, Canada and is promoting his newest 2018 CD – The Atwood Suites .. His style is rooted in the legacy of post-bop jazz full of classical composition .. He got Masters in Performance from Boston’s New England Conservatory studying with masters like George Garzone, Jimmy Giuffre and George Russell - After moving to Brooklyn in 1997 he became a fixture on the New York jazz scene and in 2012 as Professor of Saxophone and Jazz Studies at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo – he juggles a full jazz like and he’s got insights into it all ..

The digital release of the new album is on March 23, 2018 in digital format online via various vendors and the physical CD release is on April 4, 2018 at Westport Coffeehouse.

NYC Jazz Pianist and Composer Leslie Pintchik

She was born in Brooklyn and raised in Long Island, NY and is now promoting her newest 2017 CD - You Eat My Food, You Drink My Wine, You Steal My Girl! So, before she made jazz her career choice, she was a teaching assistant in English literature at Columbia University – then went on to get her Master of Philosophy degree in seventeenth-century English literature – Her initial foray into the jazz was on the Manhattan scene in a trio with legendary bassist Red Mitchell at Bradley's – that led to her 2004 debut CD So Glad To Be Here -

Jazz Vocalist Michelle Coltrane

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Jazz Vocalist Michelle Coltrane .. There just released her 2nd CD - 2017's Awakening … So, she was born in Paris, France, and is the only daughter of Alice and John Coltrane – As that backdrop to her life, she was always surrounded by music and encouraged to get involved .. She would go on to live in Japan and work as a DJ – along with perofrming arranging background vocals for prominent artists – Over time, she has toured the US and France as a soloist and has performed with such artists as Kenny Kirkland, Jeff Watts, Ronnie Laws, Billy Childs, Jack DeJohnette – and so many others .. Even with the Coltrane name, she has established her own jazz lore and she has many stories to impart ..

Jazz Drummer & Composer Dan Pugach

He is originally from Israel and there he served his mandatory three-year military duty as the drummer of the Air-Force Orchestra and learned so much .. From there, he received his Bachelor’s degree from Berklee College of Music and his Master’s from the City College of New York studying under Joe Lovano, George Garzone and others .. His Nonet is his 9-piece ensemble which features Dan's original compositions – He has been described as “Rock-solid on drums" by Frank Alkyer ..

New York City Jazz Guitarist Abe Ovadia

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Jazz Guitarist Abe Ovadia .. In 2017 he released his hit single, "Afro Blue" and there is more to come .. He spoke with Neon Jazz about his childhood in New Jersey .. He has a  bachelor's degree from Berklee College of Music and a master's from New York University – To date, he has 3 albums under his belt and has gained the respect of his peers and jazz veterans alike, such as Grammy-award winning trumpeter Brian Lynch, who said, "It has been very enjoyable to play with him, as well as to perform his original music. He is playing at a world-class level."
