Jazz Pianist & Composer Frank Kimbrough

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Jazz Pianist, Composer and Educator Frank Kimbrough .... He spent his childhood in Roxboro, North Carolina .. then would move on to Chapel Hill and then to Washington DC .. That culminated to his current home of New York City in 1981 when you could afford to live there.. He played and learned from the best like Herbie Nichols – He spoke about his newest 2016 album Solstice – and he’s very happy about it .. He’s a big name in jazz and has been recognized by his the Downbeat Critics Poll each year since 2001 and just keeps on playing all over the place, recording and teaching at Julliard ..
