Montreal-based Jazz Saxophonist, Flautist & Clarinetist Beth McKenna

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Montreal-based Jazz Saxophonist, Flautist & Clarinetist Beth McKenna .. She opened up about her life in jazz and namely her new 2021 CD Beyond Here written almost entirely prior to the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic .. The album was inspired by the impact we as humans have on the world around us. From conflict and climate change, to the fusion of North American culture with global influences, the message of the CD is a sense of urgency to reflect on where we stand with our planet and how our actions can echo far beyond the present. She was born in Nova Scotia and has been a Montrealer since 2008 .. Today she stands as one of Montreal’s most versatile saxophonists, bandleaders, and composers .. Enjoy the whole story ..
