Former KC & Current NYC Jazz Bassist Craig Akin

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with KC Native and current NYC Jazz Bassist Craig Aiken .. He was born and raised in Oklahoma, then made his way to the University of Kansas and that led to a 10 year career in Kansas City .. He learned from KC jazz luminaries like Bob Bowman and Gerald Spaits and played countless shows in town .. From there, he would move on to New York City and learn under bass legend Ron Carter .. Since that time, he has played in thousands of Shows and remains very active with his band Roosevelt Dime out of Brooklyn, NY .. He’s got some great stories, a good KC lineage ..
