Kansas City-based Musician, Educator & Advocate Christopher Burnett on the 2020 CBQ +5 Standards Volume 1 Album

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Kansas City based alto saxophonist, composer and educator Christopher Burnett. This is our second interview during the COVID-19 pandemic and it took place on December 17, 2020. We covered a lot of good jazz ground .. Primarily, we discussed his fourth album as a leader titled, The Standards, Vol. 1 on the Artists Recording Collective (ARC) label. The album of mostly post-bop compositions will be released in January 2021. He recorded the album under the brilliance of producer Bill Crain at BRC Audio Productions in Kansas City with a collection of stellar KC musicians. We talk this, the pandemic, his students, hope for the future and so much more. Dig this interview ..
