Welcome to a new edition of the Famous Interviews with Joe Dimino series. On this episode, we talk with Motivational Speaker & Podcast Host Hollis Peirce, an extraordinary individual who blends sharp dry humor, dark wit, and powerful resilience to navigate life with a disability.
Diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy at six months old, Hollis defied early expectations and pursued a life defined not by limitations, but by ambition and creativity. He earned a bachelor’s degree in History (2015) and a master’s degree in History with a specialization in Digital Humanities (2019).
In 2009, he founded the Ottawa Power Wheelchair Hockey League, creating a vital community for athletes with disabilities. He also spent his youth volunteering at local music festivals, contributing to the arts and culture of his region.
His impact was formally recognized in 2024 when he received the Governor General of Canada's Meritorious Service Medal, one of the nation’s most prestigious honors.
We dig into his story of grit, perspective, humor, advocacy, and the deeper mission behind his work today. He’s incredible. Enjoy this interview.
