Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with NY Jazz vocalist Lisa Gary .. She was raised in Long Island and performs in New York City these days .. she is New York through and through .. Over the course of a spirited conversation, she described how her family was very musical .. her grandfather was a Hungarian pianist, her father was a trumpeter and jazz lover .. and she started her journey in music on the trumpet .. inspired by gigs she would see in the city as a girl with Clark Terry .. She loves Ella Fitzgerald, has plans for a new album called ‘Goin' Your Way’ that will hit the world in early 2016 and she loves what she does in her jazz to pop crossover groove ..
