Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with J Jazz Harmonica & Vibraphonist Hendrik Meurkens .. He grew up in Germany and made his way to America to study at the Berklee School of Music .. He just released a new straight ahead jazz album – 2016’s Harmonicus Rex .. But, he has a deep affection for Latin Jazz after spending some quality time in the 1980’s in Rio in the samba and bassa nova traditions .. He’s gigged with legends over the years ..
