He is a guitarist, banjoist and composer living in New York City where he has established himself as one of the most unique and volatile guitarists of his generation. Veteran Jazz Composer, Pianist & Educator Cyrus Chestnut

From there, he would move on to Boston for the Berklee College of Music and would go on to dedicate his life to jazz .. honing his craft as a sideman with some of the legendary and leading musicians like Michael Carvin, Donald Harrison, Terence Blanchard, Wynton Marsalis, Freddie Hubbard, Benny Golson, Betty Carter and Dizzy Gillespie .. He just released his newest CD – 2018’s Kaleidoscope ..

Modern Jazz Vocalist Aimée Allen

Jazz Vibes Legend Joe Locke on the 2018 CD Subtle Disguise

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Jazz Vibes Master, Composer and Bandleader Joe Locke  .. We caught him on the road in the UK to talk about his latest 2018 CD Subtle Disguise and we discussed what has been going on in his live .. For several years now, Joe has had two musical purposes: one, to speak in a vernacular which reaches people, and two, to continue challenging himself as a player, writer and arranger – it’s all been working out quite well .. Joe made it clear that this album would not have come to actualization were it not for the band he assembled for this project .. and he will explain .. So, the music on this disc is both personal in nature and unintentionally has a political thread that runs through it .. He’s gearing up for a CD CD Release Celebration: Nov. 17 @ Scullers, Boston, MA and it will be Available on Origin Records - November 16, 2018 ..

Veteran Jazz Saxophonist Jerry Vivino

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Veteran Jazz Saxophonist Jerry Vivino.. His latest 2018 CD Coast to Coast with Bucky Pizarelli and others is a wonderful album .. He was born in Paterson, New Jersey where music and art was an everyday thing in the Vivino household during his childhood .. By the age of 16, he started playing the saxophone. As life picked up steam, jerry toured the country with Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons in 1978 and 1979 .. All roads led to 1993, when his friend and Bruce Springsteen drummer Max Weinberg asked him if he would put together a band for a late night talk show .. an audition for Late Night With Conan O'Brien .. That led to 25 years of action .. and now that the Basic Cable Band is no longer in the Conan world, he is moving on into new ventures .. we spoke about this, that and much of the other ..
