Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with NYC-based Jazz Pianist & Composer Jason Yeager .. We talked quite a bit about the new 2022 Project Unstuck In Time: The Kurt Vonnegut Suite .. On the occasion of the great satirist’s 100th birthday, he has created a new suite of music inspired by Vonnegut’s writings. It’s full of eleven new compositions vibrantly capturing the incisive wit and skewed vision of one of the 20th century’s most inventive and celebrated novelists. The album will be released by Sunnyside on November 11, 2022 to coincide with Vonnegut’s centennial .. Jason is originally from the Boston area with 7 albums as a leader & has performed on 25 more as a side musician .. Enjoy this interview ..

Born in San Jose, California, he grew up in the Bay Area and started playing piano in the 2nd grade. He would move to New York City in 1987 and since then has been working as a freelance musician, playing jazz gigs, Broadway shows, several tours, and teaching. According to composer Anthony Davis, winner of the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Music for The Central Park Five, there is no better time than now to revive X .. It’s a collection of 12 original blues and jazz songs, performed by a stellar supporting cast of musicians. He was born in Berkeley, California and grew up in San Jose and at 11-years-old he began his first guitar lesson .. After his move to LA in 1973, he began playing in both Gerald Wilson's Big Band and with Louie Bellson's Big Band.. Since then he’s had quite a career in music for personal projects, along with TV and Film projects .. By the age of 15, Morgan had moved in pursuance of playing professionally and playing in multiple community bands across the Kansas City jazz scene.  That led him to Boston and the Berklee College of Music and now he is moving on to the mecca of jazz in New York City ..
