Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Portland-based Pianist Kerry Politzer on New 2022 Album In a Heartbeat .. With six previous albums under her belt, this mid-career musician returns with a deep and varied book of original tunes written and recorded largely during the pandemic, The jazz scene moves quickly, however, and her new album In a Heartbeat serves as a striking reintroduction to an artist who should be far better known. The last time I saw or talked to her in person with while she was in Kansas City playing and promoting her 2019 CD Diagonal .. This new venture is her first album of originals in eight years and pays homage to her aunt whom she lost during the pandemic .. We get into quite a bit .. Enjoy this interview ..
