Panamanian-born Jazz Pianist, Composer, Humanitarian & Activist Danilo Pérez

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Panamanian-born Jazz Pianist, Composer, Humanitarian & Activist Danilo Pérez .. He happened to be on the road as gigs are starting to happen again and he is in the midst of promoting his new, upcoming album .. The cornerstone of his mission is that he believes that a united global perspective for the arts and social justice are the keys to moving humanity forward in harmony. With Crisálida, he is moving forward with global jazz .. He was born in Panama and began his musical studies when he was three years old with his father who was a bandleader and singer ... He went on to get a bachelor’s degree in electronics in Panama & would move on to study jazz composition at the prestigious Berklee College of Music .. Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Veteran Connecticut-based Drummer Ken Serio .. We caught up with him while his town was in the midst of a huge blizzard to talk about his latest 2022 CD The Fuse Box that came out on January 14th on Tripping Tree Music. The album is a fusion of Jazz, Blues and Prog Rock Featuring Mike Stern & Brian Charette. He grew up on Pawcatuck CT/Westerly, RI border and has been playing drums since the age of 11 years old .. He was inspired by seeing Ringo Starr on TV early on .. Ken would finally got his first drum set at age 14 and he never looked back .. One of his big moments in life was meeting Danny Gottlieb -one of his drumming idols from The Pat Metheny Group -Danny introduced Ken to his teacher in the great Joe Morello and that would lead to wonderful things .. He opened up about his latest 2022 CD On The Town - Pete Malinverni Plays Leonard Bernstein .. it's an homage he has wanted to put on record for many years—ever since he met Bernstein in person while performing at an opening-night party for a production of the opera Tosca at the Met in NYC. Pete has been a fixture on the New York City Jazz scene since moving there in the early 1980s from his hometown of Niagara Falls, NY, where he'd begun Classical Piano studies at the age of six. Since moving to NYC, Pete has recorded sixteen times as a leader .. Enjoy his story ..

Los Angeles-based Jazz Vocalist Jami Templeton

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Los Angeles-based Jazz Vocalist Jami Templeton .. She opened up about her debut jazz album The Shape of My Heart coming out on February 4th, 2022 .. During her childhood, she was privileged to study under Margot Hanson, the wife of famed bassist Chuck Israels. She was an accomplished opera singer that gave Jami a solid vocal technique, and  encouraged her to sing classical music. Her professional career began at age 20 with an encouragement award from the Metropolitan Opera and flourished from there. She would then find jazz .. and here we are today .. Enjoy the story ..

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Kansas City-based Saxophonist & Author Adam Larson on the 2022 CD With Love, From Chicago Adam Larson  .. This new album will be the first of a trilogy that will be released on Outside in Music on February 11, 2022 .. He plans to release albums over the next 18 months alongside a new cordless trio joined by two of Chicago’s finest instrumentalists in  bassist Clark Sommers and drummer Dana Hall .. He spoke with Neon Jazz way back in March of 2020 when the world starting making it’s first COVID transformation .. Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Brooklyn-based Jazz Saxophonist & Composer Remy Le Boeuf .. He talked about his latest 2022 CD – Architecture Of Storms  .. It is his second large-ensemble album. The first one was  Assembly of Shadows and it received two Grammy nominations in 2019. This Grammy-nominated musician grew up in Santa Cruz, California with an identical twin. His music is rooted in the jazz tradition and overlaps into the contemporary classical realm, drawing on various influences from Aaron Copland to Charles Mingus. Enjoy his story ..
