New Orleans-based Jazz Bassist Quinn Sternberg

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with New Orleans-based Jazz Bassist Quinn Sternberg .. He has an interesting new 2020 CD out called Mind Beach and he talks about it .. He’s originally from Bloomington, Indiana and since graduating with a Jazz Studies degree from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music in 2016, he has been performing music full time on the local scene, on tour, and as a recording artist.  He plays both the electric and upright bass, and regularly performs in musical styles including Jazz, Rock, Funk, Hip-Hop, Soul, Latin, Folk and more. He has a new 2020 Trio CD out and this musician has been redefining what the  ukulele is capable of for the last 20 years .. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, at 4 he was drawn to the sound of the instrument .. that literally means ‘jumping flea’ .. NYC Jazz Drummer Jason Tiemann

Originally from Tampa, Florida .. he moved on to Kentucky and then New York City where he maintains a busy schedule as a freelance performer and educator. He’s been influenced by the likes of Philly Joe Jones, Tony Williams, Elvin Jones and Billy Higgins and these days is currently on the jazz faculty of the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz at the university of Hartford. Veteran Jazz Guitarist & Educator Gerry Beaudoin

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Veteran Boston Jazz Guitarist & Educator Gerry Beaudoin .. He has always had strong ties to the Boston area and New England – He’s a lifelong resident of Waltham, Massachussetts – a graduate of Berklee College of Music and an adjunct professor of music at Quincy College. So, when he was visiting his sister in New York City, he saw Bucky Pizzarelli and was motivated to buy a seven-string guitar – Bucky would became a lifelong friend and mentor. NYC-based Jazz Pianist & Composer Eldar Djangirov

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with NYC-based Jazz Pianist & Composer Eldar Djangirov .. He talked about his latest 2020 CD Rhapsodize .. It is his 11th album and the follow up to World Tour Vol. 1 – He’s originally from the old Soviet Union - Kyrgyzstan-born and started playing the piano when he was 3 years old. His family moved to the USA when he was 10 years old, relocated to Kansas City and he talks about how he grew up here and the whole KC experience. During that time, he built a reputation as a child prodigy – he was on Marian McPartland's award-winning NPR show, Piano Jazz, when he was only 12 years old - the youngest performer to ever appear on her show. NYC-based Jazz Trumpeter, Composer, Arranger and Producer Duane Eubanks

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Philadelphia-born, NYC-based Jazz Trumpeter, Composer, Arranger and Producer Duane Eubanks  ... Kansas City-based Saxophonist B.J. Jansen is bringing Duane to Kansas City to perform on May 13th, 2020 at the Westport Coffeehouse Theater – and we had to catch up with him about it .. He also talked about his Live at Smalls CD from 2018 .. Jazz is in his family lineage and he’s grateful for it .. His mother Vera is a pianist, and his brothers are celebrated trombonist Robin Eubanks and guitarist Kevin Eubanks and the legendary pianist Ray Bryant is his uncle. So, he got a  business degree at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore and joined the university’s jazz band – then he studied jazz in master classes at Temple University with the legendary Dr. Billy Taylor before heading on to New York .. After a conversation with his late wife and author of the book, Maxine, she decided Kansas City needed a tribute to the gentle giant. Over his long and interesting career, he has been on over 100 recordings and been all over the world .. he’s even performed at the White House, the Kennedy Center and the 1992 Presidential Inauguration - “The Tonight Show” - Late Night with David Letterman,” “The Conan O’Brien Show,” and many other national TV and radio broadcasts.
