Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Montreal-based Jazz Pianist & Composer Gentiane MG .. We talked about her third album .. the new 2022 CD Walls of Glass .. Her band shares a deep bond that obscures the boundaries between written and improvised material.  Early on, while studying and performing works from the great classical composers such as Bach, Chopin, Ravel, she was beginning to experiment with creating music, seeking an outlet for self expression. A growing interest in improvisation led her in her late teenage years to shift her focus towards jazz .. In addition to her artistic career, she is an in-demand teacher that has shared her experience and knowledge with students from all over the world, having been a course lecturer at McGill University and a guest lecturer at institutions such as the University of Veracruz in Mexico. She has also maintained her private teaching studio for the last 15 years... Enjoy this interview.

Whenever she sang on stage live or on radio, she became exhilarated with the audiences’ response by singing her way through the American Standard Song Book. She lived next door to Oscar Peterson in Montreal, and was swept away as she listened to his practicing many hours on his magical piano. He gave her a gift without even knowing it. Legendary New York City Drummer & Composer Chris Parker

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Legendary New York City Drummer & Composer Chris Parker .. He opened up about his new 2022 CD Tell Me .. This long road that Parker has travelled on for the past fifty years seems infinite, forever winding its way through one creative tour-de-force after another .. He was born in Chicago and playing drums at age three. He began performing his first professional gigs at eleven and at nineteen, he began recording and touring with blues great Paul Butterfield and then broke into the New York studio scene in 1970 doing records, movie scores and filling the drum chair at Saturday Night Live. Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Slovakian-born, New York-based Jazz Singer & Lyracist Hanka G .. She talked to us about her new 2022 CD Universal Ancestry .. It is her first album recorded and released in the United States .. She was born in Slovakia and spent her childhood years in the Mongolian desert with her parents who were professors of geology. Some of the first melodies she learned were Mongolian and the experience left a profound mark on her life. New York City Jazz Drummer, Composer, Producer & Arranger Johnny Steele

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with New York City Jazz Drummer, Composer, Producer & Arranger Johnny Steele .. We talked to him about his new 2022 CD The Game and life coming out of the quarantine .. During the varied quarantines and lockdowns of the past two years, he found himself caught with an unexpected excess of time on his hands and this album is the result of that .. Although he’s only twenty one years of age, he has been fortunate enough to share the stage and the studio with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, Matthew Whitaker, Immanuel Wilkins, Jon Faddis and many others. He was raised in a bicoastal environment  - born in Maryland and raised in San Diego – as a result he was exposed to a vast array of music and musicians that eventually shaped him to get to the point where he is today.
