New York City Jazz Pianist Aaron Goldberg

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Veteran Jazz Pianist Aaron Goldberg .. He spoke openly about his latest 2018 CD At the Edge of the World .. He began taking piano lessons at 7, and started playing jazz when he was 14. He moved to New York City at 17 to attend the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, and devoted his off-hours to practicing the piano and performing in New York clubs. As his career as a pianist continued to gain momentum, he decided to pursue a long-held ambition to continue exploring themes from his senior thesis and obtain a master's degree in philosophy. So, jazz has a way of summoning that kind of spirit from musicians, and he knows exactly how to capture it, surrounding himself with kindred spirits in pursuit of the highest expression. He opened up about quite a bit ..
