Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Bandleader Heidi Phillips of the Legendary Kansas City Indie Rock Band Frogpond .. This Kansas City institution was active from 1993 to 2000 and they are gearing up for their first full album release in 20 years .. The band is rewriting a story that seemingly ended long ago. It all began as an unadorned rock project between then-college student Heidi Phillips and a handful of novice musician friends catapulted into an all-too-brief staple of ‘90s alt and indie rock. They won over the audiences of Kansas City and represent a much needed sound and presence of familiarity needed as the world recovers from COVID and live music begins in earnest ..
