Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with New York-based Jazz Singer Lizzie Thomas .. We get into her career-defining fifth album called Duo Encounters on a project that digs deep into the lyrics, and uplifts each song with her individualistic approach. Turning away from the conventional, these interpretations of carefully curated tunes are fun and adventurous. She was born in Pittsburgh, grew up in Dalton, Georgia where her interest in music began at age 8 with the study of classical piano and clarinet. The big turning point occurred when she was 18 and heard Billie Holiday for the first time. We get into this and so much more .. Dig this story ..
