Nicknamed "Kamikaze" for his fearless playing style, Alan Mayer played 16 seasons as a goalkeeper, including representing the U.S. National Team in 1976 and 1977. After competing in both the Eastern and Western indoor soccer leagues, he moved to Kansas City in 1985, becoming an iconic figure with the Kansas City Comets, where his number was retired. In 2012, he joined the Comets coaching staff, continuing his impact on the sport.
