Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series. In this episode, we speak with Betty Accorsi—an award-winning Italian-born, UK-based jazz saxophonist, composer, arranger, and bandleader—as she shares insight into her creative journey and latest musical projects.
We dive into her brand-new 2025 single “Mary,” a track inspired by the naturalistic poetry of Mary Oliver, the iconic American poet known for her reflections on nature and solitude. The single is part of her upcoming album Nature Prints, recorded with her quartet and set for release on July 18, 2025.
Betty studied classical saxophone, piano, and composition at the prestigious Giuseppe Verdi Conservatoire in Milan. Since relocating to London in 2018, she has become a vibrant presence in the jazz scene, blending her classical roots with bold, contemporary jazz expression.
In this conversation, Betty opens up about her inspirations, the creative process behind Nature Prints, and her experience growing as an artist in the UK jazz community.
