Author & Professor Nathan Mauck on AI Co-Thinking, Better Questions & the Future of Learning

Welcome to a new edition of the Famous Interviews with Joe Dimino series. On this episode, we talk with Nathan Mauck — author, Professor of Finance at UMKC’s Bloch School, and Arvin Gottlieb Chair in Business Economics — for a fascinating conversation about artificial intelligence, education, critical thinking, and the evolving relationship between people and technology.

Nathan teaches an AI Co-Thinking framework in executive education, which he created with Robert A. Greene, founder of OIC Innovation. With three decades of experience helping teams work through strategic problems, Greene brings an important practical perspective to this approach.

In his book, Nathan explores how AI can be used to examine alternatives, expand our thinking, and turn fluent AI-generated output into better questions. It's a conversation about moving beyond simply asking AI for answers and learning how to think alongside it.

Nathan has earned multiple teaching awards throughout his academic career, works with undergraduate, graduate, and executive students, and has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles. He's also someone who remains committed to being a lifelong learner.

We get into AI co-thinking, the future of education, strategic problem-solving, curiosity, and the importance of asking better questions in a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence.
