Philadelphia-based Jazz Vocalist Maci Miller

As she notes, “The number nine is significant because it's closely associated with the spirit, with spiritual growth, inner awakening and self-realization.” As a young girl, she discovered her grandparent’s vast collection of vinyl, and after studying every great artist from Ella to Ellington, she honed her vocal skills and made her debut in local clubs and at special events. Maci has sung in legendary rooms such as the The Jazz Standard and Danny’s Skylight Room in NYC, Ortliebs and Chris’s Jazz Cafe in Philadelphia, Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas and so many others .. Jazz Conga & Percussionist Alberto Nacif

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Jazz Conga & Percussionist Alberto Nacif .. He opened up about Aguankó's new 2023 project .. Their 5th album called Unidad .. It is an all original Latin Jazz recording, comprised of 11 creatively fresh Cuban Jazz inspired pieces from the incredibly rich Detroit area jazz scene. Alberto was born in Mexico City and lived the isthmus state of Oaxaca on Mexico’s west coast where Cuban derived rhythms were part of everyday music. He began playing conga and bongo drums at a young age with local musicians in Mexico. He emigrated to Detroit, Michigan as a teen, and became involved in that City’s Jazz, Disco and Latin music scene. He is also a skilled physician .. with a grand tale to tell.. Enjoy..
