Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Jazz Saxophonist Dave Rempis .. He was born in Wellesley, Massachusetts and began his music journey at 8 inspired by a family friend who played clarinet in local Greek bands – and picked up the saxophone – At 22 he was asked to replace veteran saxophonist Mars Williams in the well-known Chicago jazz outfit The Vandermark Five and things took off .. Along with the concerts and recordings, he’s one of the main organizers of the indie-rock Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago’s Union Park – He’s a very cool and centered cat ..Click here to listen to the interview.
