She talked about her new single called “I Am Orchestra” based on an original poem she is releasing as a singled in honor of the legendary pianist Cecil Taylor .. NYC-based Jazz Pianist & Composer Amina Figarova

She opened up about the 2019 CD Road to the Sun - With this release of this album, she is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her band. .. She was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, and as a child studied to be a classical concert pianist. In 1998, she was invited along with her husband to the Thelonious Monk Institute's summer jazzcolony in Aspen, and after more than a decade of bookings in major U.S. jazz clubs, concert halls and festivals, the couple gained legal immigrant status in 2014.

Veteran Jazz Guitarist Doug MacDonald

He talked about his latest project t.. the 2019 CD Topics in American History .. He grew up in South Jersey...a suburb of Philadelphia…the land of cheesesteaks and hoagies. Formative listening experiences involved strumming a tennis racket principally with Beatles songs and the radio along with being exposed to his Father’s Sinatra records. He’s been based in NYC since August 1999 and he’s been very busy .. As a bandleader and sideman Jentsch has performed throughout the Northeast and Florida, having worked with such diverse musical personalities as George Russell, John Cage, Maria Schneider, Ira Sullivan, and Chris Wood.

Cuban-born & NYC-based Jazz Pianist & Composer Dayramir Gonzalez

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Cuban-born Jazz Pianist Dayramir Gonzalez  .. He was born and raised in Havana, Cuba and came into his own as a New York City based artist/composer with his 2018 U.S. debut “THE GRAND CONCOURSE”  This new cat on the scene has been hailed for his ‘monster technique’ and prolific creative range which melds rock, pop, jazz and Afro-Cuban stylings.  His father was Afro-Cuban jazz trumpeter, Fabian Gonzalez and a driving force and inspiration when he discovered the piano at the age of 8. He would eventually be accepted into Cuba’s famed National High School for the Arts (ENA) .. From there, the world of music was his to pursue .. He talked about this and so much more ..

Montana-based Jazz Musician, Teacher & Entrepreneur Erica von Kleist

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Montana-based Jazz Multi-Instrumentalist, Teacher & Entrepreneur Erica von Kleist .. This Connecticut native began her career as a saxophonist and flautist in the New York jazz scene. She would study at the renowned Juilliard School and in 2004 earned the first bachelor’s degree in jazz in the school’s history. After graduation, Erica’s next ten years were met with performances, tours and several Grammy-Nominated recordings .. She has been a teacher for over 20 years and after moving to beautiful northwest Montana in 2013, Erica launched two sister companies (The Montana Artist Collective and Groovetrail) that have created sustainable platforms of employment for local musicians.

A Neon Jazz Interview with Jazz Singer Stacey Kent

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Jazz Singer Stacey Kent .. She is a jazz singer in the mould of the greats, with a legion of fans worldwide, a host of honors and awards including a Grammy nomination, album sales in excess of 2 million, Gold, Double-Gold and Platinum-selling albums that have reached a series of No. 1 chart positions during the span of her career. Her  musical journey began in her childhood with piano lessons. An unusually keen ear and true voice lead her to participate in school musical productions, and she could often be heard singing at impromptu musical events in the college's cafe.
