Russian-born, NYC-based Jazz Bassist Yuriy Galkin

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Russian-born, NYC-based Jazz Bassist Yuriy Galkin ..  He talked about his 2019 CD “For Its Beauty Alone” - A reflection of our uncertain and unjust times when an absolute power causes sufferings to many .. So, from Russia, he also lived in London, UK for seven years. Performing and recording with such world-renowned musicians as David Binney, Matt Mitchell, Jason Palmer, Wycliffe Gordon, and many more .. In February 2010, he became a winner of prestigious 'The Dankworth Composition Prize 2010' for his tune 'Evolvent' written and arranged for a 9-piece orchestra. From Sep 2013 till Oct 2014, he was appointed as a professor at one of the most prestigious music academies in Russia – And in 2015 he launched a new project that involved the most prominent musicians of the New York jazz scene ..
