Overcoming Fear & Embracing Courage with Bernice McDonald

Welcome to a new edition of the Famous Interviews with Joe Dimino series. On this episode, we talk with Author and Coach for Women Creatives, Bernice McDonald, about her transformative journey from living in fear to stepping into courage.

After years in toxic relationships and a strict upbringing, Bernice believed fear was the enemy. But at age 54, everything changed. She walked on fire at a Tony Robbins event, went whitewater rafting, and faced the vivid inner voices that held her back. In a pivotal moment, she realized the goal isn’t to eliminate fear—but to understand it. She named her fear voice “Fred,” and befriending it became the key to unlocking courage.

Her book, Brave Enough To Be Myself—the first in the "Little Books of Courage" series—offers a four-week roadmap to help women move from "not enough" to "brave enough." Bernice now empowers women creatives to embrace authenticity, overcome self-doubt, and redefine fear as a guide, not an enemy.
