Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Boston-based Jazz Saxophonist Carlos Averhoff, Jr. .. We spoke at length about his latest 2018 CD  - iQba  (iQ-Cuba) – The name is referencing the economic crisis in Cuba in the 1990's.  He was born in Havana, Cuba,  and first encounter with music was through his mother’s womb by the hands of his father, legendary saxophonist and member of Chucho Valdes’s Irakere, Carlos Averhoff, Sr. He would go on to learn from the likes of  luminaries Jerry Bergonzi, George Garzone, Terri Lyne Carrington and others .. and that has led to collaborations with Louis Hayes, Jimmy Cobb, Bob Moses and many others ..
