UK Jazz Saxophonist & Composer Karen Sharp

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with UK Jazz Saxophonist & Composer Karen Sharp .. She was in Suffolk in the UK and developed a love of music from an early age – that would lead to her taking  up the piano and clarinet and then she would start writing music and working as an accompanist for local music groups.  After graduating in composition at the Royal Northern College of Music, she discovered a love of jazz and was inspired to play the tenor sax by two giants - Dexter Gordon and Sonny Rollins .. After moving to London in 2000, her career took off when she was asked to join Humphrey Lyttelton's band with whom she toured the UK and Europe for four years. This gave her a great deal of exposure and led to many great things .. she talks about all of this and her latest 2018 CD The Sun, The Moon and You ..
