Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Jazz Drummer, Composer & Author Artt Frank.. We caught up with him on January 14, 20201- One month to the day he will release his newest memoir Chet Baker: The Later Years – Looking for the Light ..Artt was a dear friend to Chet.. He told me that Chet said Artt was the brother he never had ..Artt is part of a dying breed as one of the few authentic bop musicians on the scene today. He worked with Chet for 14 years and also spent some quality time wiht Jimmy Heath, Al Cohn, Ted Curson, Sonny Stitt, Phil Moore and sat in on several occasions with Charlie Parker, Lee Morgan, Tadd Dameron, Dexter Gordon and Bud Powell. This cat is 88 years old and still full of fire and vigor for life and storytelling ..Dig his story ..
