Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Grammy Winning Canadian Jazz Trumpeter Darren Barrett .. We spoke to him on January 7, 2022 about his life in music, the COVID world and releasing his new 2021 CD Live and Direct (Dee’s Theme) during these modern times of very little live music .. He was born to Jamaican parents and after he heard Miles Davis’ ‘Round About Midnight, he was hooked on that jazz feeling .. He has had some sage guidance over the years from the likes of the legendary Dr. Donald Byrd .. Enjoy the stories ..
