She is a licensed mental health counselor and the author of "Nurturing and Empowering Our Sons" and "Instead of Medicating and Punishing". She developed The Couture Protocol, a whole-child model of treating developmental and generational trauma in children, youths, and their families. Laurie is a specialist in healing developmental trauma and attachment problems in children and youths and has 25 years of clinical and professional experience in the fields of behavioral healthcare, foster and adoption social work, juvenile justice, education, and consulting. She was featured in the documentaries, The War On Kids and Class Dismissed and has presented at conferences such as American Public Health Association Expo and the Ancestral Health Symposium.
