Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Veteran Jazz Artists in Bassist David Chevan & Pianist Warren Byrd .. They opened up about their new 2024 album Our Feet Began to Pray on Reckless DC Music. The concept for the title song, My Feet Began to Pray, came during a protest march after the death of George Floyd, as the New Haven police were moving the crowd across a bridge. Way back in the 90s, a lasting friendship was born out of jazz. Warren was playing piano at a jam session at a now-defunct jazz bastion in the Hartford CT area, while David Chevan sat in for a tune or two on bass. This began the union that has lasted for decades.
