Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Philadelphia-based Jazz Saxophonist, Composer, Arranger & Educator Hiruy Tirfe .. He talked about his debut album .. the 2024 CD 10,000 Hours .. It is a soundscape deeply rooted in the music scene of Philadelphia that is the essence of the city's unique sound permeates every note. On this project, he not only embraces the concept of deliberate practice but also intertwines it with his personal journey as a first-generation American growing up in Philadelphia, adapting to the challenges and experiences that come with it. His journey as a versatile musician began during his time in Upper Darby public schools, in addition to extra curricular programs such as the Kimmel Center Creative Music Program, and then continuing his studies at the University Of The Arts in Center City Philadelphia, where he honed his craft and emerged as a sought-after sideman for numerous local Philadelphia artists.
