He is a former cop and a former federal inmate with 15 years of experience at each. That's what you call living on both sides of the tracks. Now here to bring the inside of both worlds to the outside in a way to make you smile, frown and shake your head. As a law enforcement officer in the midwest, he rose the ranks rapidly becoming a captain at 26. He was a patrol officer, investigator and later specialized in interrogations and child abuse cases. He left law enforcement and started a business, that's where he got crosswise with the feds. He wrote three books and observed a world that works unlike anyone really thinks it does. In 1998, he founded Gossamer Gear, a company dedicated to manufacturing ultralight backpacking equipment. During decades of championing ultralight backpacking, while working as an engineer by day, Glen became aware that “take less, do more” is more than just a hiking slogan. As he reduced his pack weight, he realized that the lessons learned applied to all areas of life. Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Jazz Pianist Richard Pellegrin on the 2024 Album Topography .. His new album done with saxophonist Neil Welch on Slow & Steady Records features a collection of compositions and improvisations directly inspired by the landscapes of the American West – especially Whidbey Island, located just north of Seattle, WA. Reflecting “an urge many of us have recently felt to escape the office, social media, or the news, and get back to nature.” We get into the new album, live shows, future projects and so much more. We caught up initially in 2021 during the pandemic shuffle, so it’s great to get back at it in more flush times. Enjoy.

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Percussionist, Educator & Foundation Executive Director of the CNY Jazz Central Orchestra Larry Luttinger .. We caught up with him to talk about the new 2024 CD If a White Horse from Jerusalem featuring NEA Jazz Master Dave Liebman, the history of the orchestra and his life in music. He has been part of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra for over 20 years and has been an avid arts administrator, music educator and musician. As the founder and Executive Director of CNY Jazz Central, he oversees this not-for-profit performing organization that presents jazz and related improvisatory arts in concert, cabaret, scholastic and festival settings across Upstate New York. It’s quite a story. Enjoy.
