Legendary Jazz Pianist Kenny Barron

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Legendary Jazz Pianist Kenny Barron .. We caught up with this brilliant artist about his new 2024 CD Beyond this Place, an upcoming Fall 2024 Tour and a life dedicated to jazz. He was honored by The National Endowment for the Arts as a 2010 Jazz Master and we asked him about what has meant the most in his career. The Los Angeles Times named him “one of the top jazz pianists in the world” and Jazz Weekly calls him “The most lyrical piano player of our time.” This Philadelphia born master talks about playing with younger cats, who helped him in the very beginning and so much more. Chicago Jazz Pianist Pat Leary

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Chicago Jazz Pianist Pat Leary .. We talked at length about his new 2024 CD Live at Midnight Tea. Bridging the impressionistic side of classical music with the jazz greats like Bill Evans or Keith Jarrett, Pat creates refreshing and intentional solo piano music that blurs the lines between classical and jazz while also avoiding being muzak. He recorded this live album this past year out of the historic Fine Arts Building in downtown Chicago, across from the Art Institute of Chicago. He grew up learning piano but he only really dove deep into it in his 20s after being moved by Bill Evans. It’s quite a tale. Enjoy.

Author, Quadriplegic Lawyer & Father of Triplets Kenneth Kunken

Welcome to a new edition of the Famous Interviews with Joe Dimino series .. On this episode, we talk with Author, Quadriplegic Lawyer & Father of Triplets Kenneth Kunken .. He broke his neck playing football for Cornell University in 1970, leaving him almost totally paralyzed from the shoulders down. After a lengthy hospitalization, Ken returned to Cornell where he completed his undergraduate degree in engineering. Ken became a nationally certified rehabilitation counselor. He worked for more than two years at Abilities Inc., where he provided vocational and placement counseling to severely disabled individuals. Wanting to accomplish still more, Ken enrolled in Hofstra University’s School of Law. Ken then worked for more than 40 years as a Nassau County assistant district attorney, where he became a Deputy Bureau Chief. Ken is married and the father of triplet boys. His book “I Dream of Things That Never Were: The Ken Kunken Story” was published in 2023. It’s an amazing story.
