Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Veteran Bandleader & Tenor Saxophonist Eric Wyatt.. We reached out to him about his latest, impressive 2019 CD The Golden Rule – For Sonny .. So, through his six recordings as a bandleader, he has been performing unspoken tributes to Sonny Rollins .. Eric has said that he will never forget the impact Rollins—who often played with Wyatt’s father—had on him growing up. This Whaling City Sound recording is magical .. So, he was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and introduced to the sax by his father Charles Wyatt, who played tenor and hung out with many of the great jazz icons: Charlie Parker, Gary Bartz, George Braith, Wilber Ware, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, and more. He opened up about his beginnings, the legends he knew and so much more about his life well lived in the jazz world .. so get to know her and dig this interview my friends ..
