Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with NYC Jazz Saxophonist Sherman Irby .. We caught up with him in Mid-April 2020 during the Coronvirus Lockdown to talk about this strange new world void of live jazz .. He talked about a lot .. His latest 2020 CD with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra – Inferno and his beginnings in Tuscaloosa, Alabama .. He found his musical calling at age 12. In high school, he played and recorded with gospel immortal James Cleveland. From there, he get into jazz and never looked back .. he’s got great stories .. Enjoy…
