We covered his latest 2021 CD Sounds from the Ancestors as he recalls the sounds of West African Music and its role in Jazz, Gospel, Motown, Hip-Hop and More .. Like his stellar career with stints around the likes of Miles Davis, Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, Donald Byrd, Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw and the Duke Ellington Orchestra .. This Detroit native has had a solo career that last lasted 3 plus decades and he is consistently seen as one of modern jazz’s brightest and most influential living masters.
