Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Veteran New York Jazz Saxophonist & Composer Vinnie Riccitelli .. We caught up with this well-travelled 94 year old musician to talk about a great many things .. like his newest 2021 CD For the Record .. He has been called one of the best-kept secrets in Jazz. Born in 1926 in Yonkers, New York, he began playing alto saxophone at the age of 11 and never stopped. 1956 was a big year for him. He both married the love of his life, his loving wife of 60 years, Jean Krupa, and wrote, arranged, and recorded his first album, entitled UniqueJazz, The Westchester Workshop. Subsequently, he would not re-record his own compositions for nearly sixty years .. Enjoy his story …
