A proud fifth-generation Colorado native, Jack is the grandson of Eric Douglas, the pioneering Denver Art Museum curator and Native arts champion who inspired Jack’s best-selling novel, Poppy: A Novel About A Colorful Colorado Life.
Before becoming a novelist, Jack built an award-winning career at NBC affiliate KUSA-TV 9NEWS in Denver as a Multimedia Journalist and Executive Producer. A four-time Emmy winner, he has also received multiple honors from the Associated Press and the Colorado Broadcasters Association.
We dig into his journey from journalism to historical fiction, his Colorado roots, and the storytelling legacy that drives his work. It’s a fascinating story you don’t want to miss. Enjoy!
