Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Award-Winning Songwriter, Guitarist & Composer David Nichtern .. We had a wide ranging, spirited talk about his new 2022 The Dharma Moon Orchestra with special guests – Guitar Phenom Julian Lage & Trumpet Extraordinaire Randy Brecker .. This project was an outgrowth of being holed up for the past 2 years in his house in East Hampton, NY – A departure from the previous seven or eight years where he travelled extensively playing music and teaching Buddhism all over the world. He is a four-time Emmy award-winner and two-time Grammy-nominated composer that started playing guitar when he was eight, composing in his teens, and working as a professional musician while still in college at Columbia University, where he had a rock band called Voltaire’s Nose with lifetime friend Christopher Guest. Over the years, he has collaborated with luminaries like Jerry Garcia, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Dr. John and so many others .. Dig this story ..
