Originally from the Jersey Shore, he grew up in a middle class household in the late 1950s and 1960s with clear ambitions to become a famous scientist and to be funny. Jazz Guitarist, Composer & Arranger Chris Standring on the 2022 CD Simple Things

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Jazz Guitarist, Composer & Arranger Chris Standring on the 2022 CD Simple Things .. In March 2021, he found himself in the emergency room after experiencing chest pains. Although there was some history of heart disease in his immediate family, he never dreamed that he was himself a candidate for a heart attack. He was just 60 years old, kept trim, ate well, exercised, and never smoked. But he was lucky. He come through it with flying colors and a new appreciation for the simple things that make life worth living. On his newest release, he reflects on his recent experience and his new and intimate awareness of the fragility of life. Standring relates, he is no stranger to funk, and several compositions on the album were heavily influenced by Prince and Bootsy Collins – We cover this and much more .. in our 2nd interview on the show .. He lived in Hong Kong from 1965-66 getting his first electric guitar and opened for Herman's Hermits. He moved to New York City in 1973 and then came home to San Francisco in 1998 .. Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Veteran Jazz Improviser and Steel Band Composer Andy Narell .. He is included in the new Chuck Sher book series by Sher Music Co. -  Jazz Songbook Series! Collection #2 .. Andy has been around for a while .. He recorded his first album as a leader in 1979 and has made 16 albums as leader during the past 39 years as he explores the possibilities of the steel pan in contemporary music .. Over time, he has performed on movie scores by James Horner, Hans Zimmer, Thomas Newman and on TV shows and commercials .. In 2017, he was inducted into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame. Internationally Active Jazz Vocalist, Composer & Educator Ester Wiesnerova

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series Internationally Active Jazz Vocalist, Composer & Educator Ester Wiesnerova .. Based in Slovakia, she just released a visually stunning debut CD that has a wonderful audio collective .. The new 2022 CD The Blue Journal .. It includes 11 original compositions written for a unique quintet including harp & percussion. The compositions unfold somewhere between folk and  contemporary jazz. She was first discovered on “The Voice of Czechoslovakia”, a television singing competition, before beginning her professional career .. She is a strong believer in music as a tool for social change & has been engaged in musical activities for marginalized groups. She organized concerts in prisons and homeless shelters, taught a homeless women choir, and·co-led regular workshops for teenagers in psychiatric hospitals. Enjoy the story ..

He opened up about his new new 2022 CD 'Scatterbrain'.  He takes equal inspiration from the Jazz greats of the past, and melds it with his love of hard rock from the 90’s and 2000’s. This melting pot of Jazz, Rock, Funk, Psychedelia, and Fusion is where his new album Scatterbrain was born. He spends his days working as a songwriter, music producer and engineer, and has worked with global superstars such as Beyonce, Snoop Dogg, Mark Ronson, and Toni Braxton.. Dig his story ..
