Welcome to a new edition of the Famous Interviews with Joe Dimino series. On this episode, we talk with Consultant Geoff Grant, who brings more than 25 years of deeply personal experience with caregiving.
Geoff’s caregiving journey began with supporting his mother and later continued as he cared for his wife, Karen. Through those years, he developed a practical and nuanced understanding of the emotional, physical and systemic realities caregivers face every day.
Caregiving is often described simply as an act of love. But behind that love is a complex role requiring resilience, adaptability, patience and sustained support. Family caregivers frequently find themselves navigating healthcare systems, managing long-term care, making difficult decisions and balancing the needs of someone they love with their own personal well-being.
Geoff has experienced those challenges firsthand.
In this conversation, we dig into the realities of family caregiving, caregiver stress, healthcare navigation, long-term care, caregiver support, resilience and the ways caregivers can become overlooked within the larger care ecosystem.
We also explore what Geoff has learned from more than two decades of caregiving—lessons about responsibility, compassion, advocacy, personal well-being and the importance of recognizing the caregiver as an essential part of the care equation.
This is an honest and important conversation for caregivers, families, healthcare professionals and anyone who may someday find themselves caring for someone they love.
We get into the whole story.
Enjoy this interview.
