Jazz Trumpeter, Arranger & Composer Vance Thompson of the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Trumpeter, Arranger & Composer Vance Thompson on behalf of the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra .. They just released their new 2020 CD The Road Less Traveled ..  and he opened up about it .. So, this band started during a rehearsal in August of 1999 and has continued to go on for two decades  - It began after he returned home to East Tennessee after a four year stint in Chicago anxious to find a way to continue writing for and playing in a pro-caliber big band. The band quickly became a laboratory for his writing and has led him down some quite fruitful paths .. You will find out about .. So, get to know him and dig this interview my friends ..
