Veteran Jazz Trumpeter, Composer, Educator & Record Producer John Vanore

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Veteran Jazz Trumpeter, Composer, Educator & Record Producer John Vanore .. He opened up about his latest CD inspired by some lost tapes called Primary Colors .. He was a blue collar kid from the Philadelphia suburbs that began playing the trumpet at age 7. He attended a summer program directed by Oliver Nelson at the Indiana University and that changed his life .. he would go on with lengthy studies with Dennis Sandole – John Coltrane’s mentor .. After college, he hit the ground booming after he joined the legendary Woody Herman band and would go on to play with the likes of Tony Bennett, Mel Torme, Peggy Lee and many others. Over the years he has taught, performed and recorded quite a bit .. He’s a very active cat with many stories .. So, get to know him and dig this interview my friends ..
