Ask the speaker to sum up their main points in one line before committing. No matter how enthusiastic they are in the room, if they are unable to succinctly summarize it, your audience probably will not either. Find out how they tailor their content for various businesses, how big their average audience is, and what happens if you need to reschedule near the event date. For a corporate budget, a speaker who responds to these questions directly and without using ambiguous marketing terminology is typically the better choice (Curtis Leadership and Training).
